Mixed Drinks With Tequila: Tequila Mojito!

One of the best mixed drinks with tequila, the Tequila Mojito. A variation of the original mojito, this recipe uses tequila blanco instead of rum and agave syrup instead of brown sugar.

Ernest Hemingway, Nat King Cold, and Lou Costello are known for their love for mojitos. What would they think of a tequila mojito?

I've a hunch they'd like it, but that's mere speculation. I will say this though: chances are you'll love it too. This mojito has an extra character that goes above and beyond the original version.

A tequila mojito is just that: a mojito recipe where rum is substituted with blanco tequila. Tequila mojito sound too strange? I'll admit the flavor is different but by no means inferior. It’s also normal for bartenders to use tequila instead of vodka and rum in their mixes, so no worries there.

Is the taste fot you though? Only one way to find out! Here’s what you’ll need.

Tequila Mojito

Cook time: 5 minutes.

Makes: 1 cool Tequila Mojito.

Ingredients:

- 1 ½ parts blanco tequila

- 2 parts club soda

- 3 teaspoons agave syrup

- 2 ice cubes

- lemon or lime juice

- mint

- whisky glass

Preparation:

Add 3 teaspoons of agave syrup to the whisky glass. Follow up by adding 3 to 5 mint leaves and crushing them well. This will release their flavor and make the cocktail more enjoyable. Add the 2 ice cubes.

Next comes the blanco tequila and the club soda. Just pour that stuff in. Finally, add 2 to 3 teaspoons of agave syrup (as a substitute for brown sugar). Add a lemon or lime garnish to your whisky glass and you’re set. You've got one of the best mixed drinks with tequila.

Summing things up...

There’s nothing wrong with the traditional mojito… but there’s nothing wrong with improving it either! It’s a nice way to bring in Mexican influence into a very Cuban cocktail.

Don't worry, the Cubans won't mind.

It’s also a good idea to stock up on spearmint. It’s an excellent and useful herb for cooking and mixing recipes. It’s relatively cheap too, so do fetch some.

So there you have it, a Mexican tequila mojito. Salud!
